SUMMARY:The Holy Prophet Aggaeus (Haggai)
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/16/2025\nSaints and Feasts: The Holy Prophet Aggaeus (Haggai); Modestos\, Archbishop of Jerusalem; Our Righteous Mother Blessed Empress Theophania; Nicholas Chrysoberges\, Patriarch of Constantinople; Memnonus\, Archbishop of Ephesus\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy 3:16-17; 4:1-4\nTimothy\, my son\, all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching\, for reproof\, for correction\, and for training in righteousness\, that the man of God may be complete\, equipped for every good work.\nI charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead\, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word\, be urgent in season and out of season\, convince\, rebuke\, and exhort\, be unfailing in patience and in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching\, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings\, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.\nGospel Reading: Mark 8:22-26\nAt that time\, Jesus came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man\, and begged him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand\, and led him out of the village; and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands upon him\, he asked him\, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said\, “I see men; but they look like trees\, walking.” Then again he laid his hands upon his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored\, and saw everything clearly. And he sent him away to his home\, saying\, “Do not even enter the village.”

SUMMARY:Daniel the Prophet & Ananias\, Azarias\, & Misail\, the Three Holy Youths
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/17/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Daniel the Prophet & Ananias\, Azarias\, & Misail\, the Three Holy Youths; Dionysius of Zakynthos\nFast Day (Wine and Oil Allowed)\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 11:33-40; 12:1-2\nBrethren\, all the saints through faith conquered kingdoms\, enforced justice\, received promises\, stopped the mouths of lions\, quenched raging fire\, escaped the edge of the sword\, won strength out of weakness\, became mighty in war\, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured\, refusing to accept release\, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging\, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned\, they were sawn in two\, they were tempted\, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats\, destitute\, afflicted\, ill-treated – of whom the world was not worthy – wandering over deserts and mountains and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these\, though well attested by their faith\, did not receive what was promised\, since God had foreseen something better for us\, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Therefore\, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses\, let us also lay aside every weight\, and sin which clings so closely\, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us\, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.\nGospel Reading: Mark 8:30-34\nAt that time\, Jesus charged his disciples to tell no one about him\, that he is the Christ. And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things\, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes\, and be killed\, and after three days rise again. And he said this plainly. And Peter took him\, and began to rebuke him. But turning and seeing his disciples\, he rebuked Peter\, and said\, “Get behind me\, Satan! For you are not on the side of God\, but of men.” And he called to him the multitude with his disciples\, and said to them\, “If any man would come after me\, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

SUMMARY:Sebastian the Martyr & his Companions
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/18/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Sebastian the Martyr & his Companions; Our Righteous Father Michael Syngellon the Confessor\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to Titus 1:5-14\nTitus\, my son\, appoint elders in every town as I directed you\, if any man is blameless\, the husband of one wife\, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of being profligate or insubordinate. For a bishop\, as God’s steward\, must be blameless; he must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain\, but hospitable\, a lover of goodness\, master of himself\, upright\, holy\, and self-controlled; he must hold firm to the sure word as taught\, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to confute those who contradict it. For there are many insubordinate men\, empty talkers and deceivers especially the circumcision party; they must be silenced\, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for base gain what they have no right to teach. One of themselves\, a prophet of their own\, said\, “Cretans are always liars\, evil beasts\, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply\, that they may be sound in the faith\, instead of giving heed to Jewish myths or to commands of men who reject the truth.\nGospel Reading: Mark 9:10-15\nAt that time\, the disciples kept the word of Jesus to themselves\, questioning what the rising from the dead meant. And they asked him\, “Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” And he said to them\, “Elijah does come first to restore all things; and how is it written of the Son of man\, that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt? But I tell you that Elijah has come\, and they did to him whatever they pleased\, as it is written of him.” And when they came to the disciples\, they saw a great crowd about them\, and scribes arguing with them. And immediately all the crowd\, when they saw him\, were greatly amazed\, and ran up to him and greeted him.

SUMMARY:Martyrs Boniface\, Probus\, Ares\, Timothy\, Polyeuktos\, Eutychios and Thessaloniki
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/19/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Martyrs Boniface\, Probus\, Ares\, Timothy\, Polyeuktos\, Eutychios and Thessaloniki; Our Righteous Father Gregentius\, Bishop of Ethiopia; Aglaia the Righteous of Rome\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to Titus 1:15-16; 2:1-10\nTitus\, my son\, to the pure all things are pure\, but to the corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are corrupted. They profess to know God\, but they deny him by their deeds; they are detestable\, disobedient\, unfit for any good deed.\nBut as for you\, teach what befits sound doctrine. Bid the older men be temperate\, serious\, sensible\, sound in faith\, in love\, and in steadfastness. Bid the older women likewise to be reverent in behavior\, not to be slanderous or slaves to drink; they are to teach what is good\, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children\, to be sensible\, chaste\, domestic\, kind\, and submissive to their husbands\, that the word of God may not be discredited. Likewise urge the younger men to control themselves. Show yourself in all respects a model of good deeds\, and in your teaching show integrity\, gravity\, and sound speech that cannot be censured\, so that an opponent may be put to shame\, having nothing evil to say to us. Bid slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to be refractory\, nor to pilfer\, but to show entire and true fidelity\, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.\nGospel Reading: Mark 9:33-41\nAt that time\, Jesus and his disciples came to Capernaum\, and when he was in the house he asked them\, “What were you discussing on the way?” But they were silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest. And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them\, “If any one would be first\, he must be last of all and servant of all.” And he took a child\, and put him in the midst of them; and taking him in his arms\, he said to them\, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me\, receives not me but him who sent me.” John said to him\, “Teacher\, we saw a man casting out demons in your name\, and we forbade him\, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said\, “Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is for us. For truly\, I say to you\, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ\, will by no means lose his reward.”

SUMMARY:Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/20/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ; Ignatius the God-Bearer\, Bishop of Antioch; Our Righteous Father Philogonius\, Bishop of Antioch; John the New Martyr of Thassos; Holy Father John of Kronstadt\nFast Day (Wine and Oil Allowed)\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians 3:8-12\nBrethren\, the scripture\, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith\, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham\, saying\, “in you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then\, those who are men of faith are blessed with Abraham who had faith. For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written\, “Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law\, and do them.” Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law; for “the righteous shall live by faith”; but the law does not rest on faith\, for “He who does them shall live by them.”\nGospel Reading: Luke 13:19-29\nThe Lord said this parable\, “The kingdom of God is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree\, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.” And again he said\, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour\, till it was all leavened.” He went on his way through towns and villages\, teaching\, and journeying toward Jerusalem. And some one said to him\, “Lord\, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them\, “Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many\, I tell you\, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the householder has risen up and shut the door\, you will begin to stand outside and to knock at the door\, saying\, ‘Lord\, open to us.’ He will answer you\, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ Then you will begin to say\, ‘We ate and drank in your presence\, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will say\, ‘I tell you\, I do not know where you come from; depart from me\, all you workers of iniquity!’ There you will weep and gnash your teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out. And men will come from east and west\, and from north and south\, and sit at table in the kingdom of God.”

SUMMARY:Sunday before Nativity
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/21/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Sunday before Nativity; Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ; Juliana of Nicomedia & her 630 Companion Martyrs; Themistocles the Martyr of Myra; Peter\, Metropolitan of Moscow\nFast Day (Wine and Oil Allowed)\nMatins Gospel Reading: Luke 24:36-53\nAt that time\, having risen from the dead\, Jesus went up and stood among His disciples and said to them\, “Peace be with you.” But they were startled and frightened\, and supposed that they saw a spirit. And He said to them\, “Why are you troubled\, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See My hands and My feet\, that it is I Myself; handle Me\, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when He had said this\, He showed them His hands and His feet. And while they still disbelieved for joy\, and wondered\, He said to them\, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave Him a piece of broiled fish \, and He took it and ate before them. Then He said to them\, “These are My words which I spoke to you\, while I was still with you\, that everything written about Me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the scriptures\, and said to them\, “Thus it is written\, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead\, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name in all nations\, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold\, I send the promise of My Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Then He led them out as far as Bethany\, and lifting up His hands\, He blessed them. While He blessed them\, He parted from them\, and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him\, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy\, and were continually in the Temple blessing God.\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 11:9-10; 32-40\nBRETHREN\, by faith Abraham sojourned in the land of promise\, as in a foreign land\, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob\, heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked forward to the city which has foundation\, whose builder and maker is God.\nAnd what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon\, Barak\, Samson\, Jephthah\, of David and Samuel and the prophets – who through faith conquered kingdoms\, enforced justice\, received promises\, stopped the mouths of lions\, quenched raging fire\, escaped the edge of the sword\, won strength out of weakness\, became mighty in war\, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured\, refusing to accept release\, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging\, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned\, they were sawn in two\, they were tempted\, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats\, destitute\, afflicted\, ill-treated – of whom the world was not worthy – wandering over deserts and mountains\, and in dens and caves of the earth.\nAnd all these\, though well attested by their faith\, did not receive what was promised\, since God had foreseen something better for us\, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 1:1-25\nThe book of the Genealogy of Jesus Christ\, the son of David\, the son of Abraham.\nAbraham was the father of Isaac\, and Isaac the father of Jacob\, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers\, and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar\, and Perez the father of Hezron\, and Hezron the father of Aram\, and Aram the father of Amminadab\, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon\, and Nahshon the father of Salmon\, and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab\, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth\, and Obed the father of Jesse\, and Jesse the father of David the king.\nAnd David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah\, and Solomon the father of Rehoboam\, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah\, and Abijah the father of Asa\, and Asa the father of Jehoshaphat\, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram\, and Joram the father of Uzziah\, and Uzziah the father of Jotham\, and Jotham the father of Ahaz\, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah\, and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh\, and Manasseh the father of Amon\, and Amon the father of Josiah\, and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers\, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.\nAnd after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Salathiel\, and Salathiel the father of Zerubbabel\, and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud\, and Abiud the father of Eliakim\, and Eliakim the father of Azor\, and Azor the father of Zadok\, and Zadok the father of Achim\, and Achim the father of Eliud\, and Eliud the father of Eleazar\, and Eleazar the father of Matthan\, and Matthan the father of Jacob\, and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary\, of whom Jesus was born\, who is called Christ.\nSo all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations\, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations\, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.\nNow the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph\, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph\, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame\, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered this\, behold\, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream\, saying\, “Joseph\, son of David\, do not fear to take Mary your wife\, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son\, and you shall call his name Jesus\, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold\, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son\, and his name shall be called Emmanuel” (which means\, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep\, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife\, but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.

SUMMARY:Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/22/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ; Anastasia the Great Martyr; Chrysogonos\, Theodota\, Evodias\, & Eutychianus\, the Martyrs; The opening of the gates of the Great Church of God\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 3:5-11\, 17-19\nBrethren\, Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant\, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later\, but Christ was faithful over his house as a son. And we are his house if we hold fast our confidence and pride in our hope firm to the end. Therefore\, as the Holy Spirit says\, “Today\, when you hear his voice\, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion\, on the day of testing in the wilderness\, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked with that generation\, and said\, ‘They always go astray in their hearts; they have not known my ways.’ As I swore in my wrath\, ‘They shall never enter my rest.'” And with whom was he provoked forty years? Was it not with those who sinned\, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they should never enter his rest\, but to those who were disobedient? So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.\nGospel Reading: Mark 9:42-50; 10:1\nThe Lord said\, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin\, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea. And if your hand causes you to sin\, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go to hell\, to the unquenchable fire\, where their worm does not die\, and the fire is not quenched. And if your foot causes you to sin\, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell\, where their worm does not die\, and the fire is not quenched. And if your eye causes you to sin\, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell\, where their worm does not die\, and the fire is not quenched. For every one will be salted with fire and every sacrifice will be salted with salt. Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness\, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves\, and be at peace with one another.” And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan\, and crowds gathered to him again; and again\, as his custom was\, he taught them.

SUMMARY:Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/23/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Forefeast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ; Ten Martyrs of Crete; Paul\, Archbishop of Neo-Caesarea; Rememberance of the Founding of the Holy and Great Church of Christ\, Hagia Sophia in Constantinople; Naoum the Illuminator of The Bulgarians; Nicholas & John the New Martyrs\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 4:1-13\nBrethren\, while the promise of entering his rest remains\, let us fear lest any of you be judged to have failed to reach it. For good news came to us just as to them; but the message which they heard did not benefit them\, because it did not meet with faith in the hearers. For we who have believed enter that rest\, as he has said\, “As I swore in my wrath\, ‘They shall never enter my rest\,'” although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way\, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” And again in this place he said\, “They shall never enter my rest.” Since therefore it remains for some to enter it\, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience\, again he sets a certain day\, “Today\,” saying through David so long afterward\, in the words already quoted\, “Today\, when you hear his voice\, do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest\, God would not speak later of another day. So then\, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God; for whoever enters God’s rest also ceases from his labors as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest\, that no one fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active\, sharper than any two-edged sword\, piercing to the division of soul and spirit\, of joints and marrow\, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And before him no creature is hidden\, but all are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.\nGospel Reading: Mark 10:2-12\nAt that time\, the Pharisees came up to Jesus and in order to test him\, asked\, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them\, “What did Moses command you?” They said\, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce\, and to put her away.” But Jesus said to them\, “For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation\, ‘God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife\, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together\, let not man put asunder.” And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. And he said to them\, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another\, she commits adultery.”

SUMMARY:Eve of the Nativity of Christ
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/24/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Eve of the Nativity of Christ; Eugenia the Righteous Nun-martyr of Rome and those with her\nStrict Fast\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 1:1-12\n IN MANY AND VARIOUS WAYS God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son\, whom he appointed the heir of all things\, through whom also he created the world. He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature\, upholding the universe by his word of power. When he had made purification for sins\, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high\, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has obtained is more excellent than theirs. For to what angel did God ever say\, “Thou art my Son\, today I have begotten thee”? Or again\, “I will be to him a father\, and he shall be to me a son”? And again\, when he brings the first-born into the world\, he says\, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” Of the angels he says\, “Who makes his angels winds\, and his servants flames of fire.” But of the Son he says\, “Thy throne\, O God\, is for ever and ever\, the righteous scepter is the scepter of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God\, thy God\, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness beyond thy comrades.” And\, “Thou\, Lord\, didst found the earth in the beginning\, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; they will perish\, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment\, like a mantle thou wilt roll them up\, and they will be changed. But thou art the same\, and thy years will never end.”\nGospel Reading: Luke 2:1-20\nIn those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment\, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be enrolled\, each to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee\, from the city of Nazareth\, to Judea\, to the city of David\, which is called Bethlehem\, because he was of the house and lineage of David\, to be enrolled with Mary\, his betrothed\, who was with child. And while they were there\, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her first born son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes\, and laid him in a manger\, because there was no place for them in the inn.\nAnd in that region there were shepherds out in the field\, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them\, and the glory of the Lord shone around them\, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them\, “Be not afraid; for behold\, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior\, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying\, “Glory to God in the highest\, and on earth peace\, good will among men!”\nWhen the angels went away from them into heaven\, the shepherds said to one another\, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened\, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste\, and found Mary and Joseph\, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them concerning this child; and all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary kept all these things\, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned\, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen\, as it had been told them.

SUMMARY:The Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/25/2025\nSaints and Feasts: The Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ; The Adoration of the Magi: Melchior\, Gaspar\, & Balthasar; The Commemoration of the Shepherds in Bethlehem who were watching their flocks and came to see the Lord\nFast Free\nMatins Gospel Reading: Matthew 1:18-25\nThe birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When Joseph woke from sleep\, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife\, but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians 4:4-7\nBRETHREN\, when the time had fully come\, God sent forth his Son\, born of woman\, born under the law\, to redeem those who were under the law\, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons\, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts\, crying\, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave but a son\, and if a son then also an heir of God through Christ.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 2:1-12\nWhen Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king\, behold\, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem\, saying\, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East\, and have come to worship him.” When Herod the king heard this\, he was troubled\, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people\, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him\, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it is written by the prophet: ‘And you\, O Bethlehem\, in the land of Judah\, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will govern my people Israel.'”\nThen Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star appeared; and he sent them to Bethlehem\, saying\, “Go and search diligently for the child\, and when you have found him bring me word\, that I too may come and worship him.” When they had heard the king they went their way; and lo the star which they had seen in the East went before them\, till it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star\, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy; and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother\, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then\, opening their treasures\, they offered him gifts\, gold and frankincense and myrrh. And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod\, they departed to their own country by another way.

But when he heard that Archelaos reigned over Judea in place of his father Herod\, he was afraid to go there\, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee. SUMMARY:Afterfeast of the Nativity
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/27/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Afterfeast of the Nativity; Stephen\, Archdeacon & First Martyr; Theodore the Confessor\, brother of Saint Theophanes the Poet; Theodore\, Patriarch of Constantinople\nFast Free\nEpistle Reading: Acts of the Apostles 6:8-15; 7:1-5\, 47-60\nIn those days\, Stephen\, full of grace and power\, did great wonders and signs among the people. Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)\, and of the Cyrenians\, and of the Alexandrians\, and of those from Cilicia and Asia\, arose and disputed with Stephen. But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke. Then they secretly instigated men\, who said\, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes\, and they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council\, and set up false witnesses who said\, “This man never ceases to speak words against this holy place and the law; for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place\, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.” And gazing at him\, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.\nAnd the high priest said\, “Is this so?” And Stephen said: “Brethren and fathers\, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham\, when he was in Mesopotamia\, before he lived in Haran\, and said to him\, ‘Depart from your land and from your kindred and go into the land which I will show you.’ Then he departed from the land of the Chaldeans\, and lived in Haran. And after his father died\, God removed him from there into this land in which you are now living; yet he gave him no inheritance in it\, not even a foot’s length\, but promised to give it to him in possession and to his posterity after him\, though he had no child.\n“But it was Solomon who built a house for him. Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made with hands; as the prophet says\, ‘Heaven is my throne\, and earth my footstool. What house will you build for me\, says the Lord\, or what is the place of my rest? Did not my hand make all these things?’\n“You stiff-necked people\, uncircumcised in heart and ears\, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did\, so do you. Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One\, whom you have now betrayed and murdered\, you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.”\nNow when they heard these things they were enraged\, and they ground their teeth against him. But he\, full of the Holy Spirit\, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God\, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; and he said\, “Behold\, I see the heavens opened\, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.” But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together upon him. Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. And as they were stoning Stephen\, he prayed\, “Lord Jesus\, receive my spirit.” And he knelt down and cried with a loud voice\, “Lord\, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this\, he fell asleep.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 12:15-21\nAt that time\, many followed Jesus\, and he healed them all\, and ordered them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “Behold\, my servant whom I have chosen\, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him\, and he shall proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not wrangle or cry aloud\, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets; he will not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick\, till he brings justice to victory; and in his name will the Gentiles hope.”

SUMMARY:Sunday after Nativity
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/28/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Sunday after Nativity; 20\,000 Martyrs burned in Nicomedia; Holy Martyr Glycerus; Simon the Myrrhbearer\, Founder of Simonopetra\, Monastery of Mount Athos; Afterfeast of the Nativity\nFast Free\nMatins Gospel Reading: John 20:1-10\nOn the first day of the week\, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early\, while it was still dark\, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran\, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple\, the one whom Jesus loved\, and said to them\, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb\, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” Peter then came out with the other disciple\, and they went toward the tomb. They both ran\, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first; and stooping to look in\, he saw the linen cloths lying there\, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came\, following him\, and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying and the napkin\, which had been on His head\, not lying with the linen cloths\, but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple\, who reached the tomb first\, also went in\, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not know the scripture\, that He must rise from the dead. Then the disciples went back to their homes.\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians 1:11-19\nBrethren\, I would have you know that the gospel which was preached by me is not man’s gospel. For I did not receive it from man\, nor was I taught it\, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism\, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it; and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people\, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. But when he who had set me apart before I was born\, and had called me through his grace\, was pleased to reveal his Son to me\, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles\, I did not confer with flesh and blood\, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me\, but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas\, and remained with him fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother.\nGospel Reading: Matthew 2:13-23\nWhen the wise men departed\, behold\, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said\, “Rise\, take the child and his mother\, and flee to Egypt\, and remain there till I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child\, to destroy him.” And he rose and took the child and his mother by night\, and departed to Egypt\, and remained there until the death of Herod. SUMMARY:Anysia the Virgin-martyr of Thessaloniki
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/30/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Anysia the Virgin-martyr of Thessaloniki; Gideon the New Martyr of Mount Athos; Holy Martyr Philetaerus; Righteous Father Leondus the Archimandrite; Afterfeast of the Nativity\nFast Free\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 9:8-23\nBrethren\, by this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the sanctuary is not yet opened as long as the outer tent is still standing (which is symbolic for the present age). According to this arrangement\, gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper\, but deal only with food and drink and various ablutions\, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation. But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that are to come\, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands\, that is\, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the Holy Place\, not through the blood of goats and calves but his own blood\, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh\, how much more shall the blood of Christ\, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God\, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant\, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance\, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant. For where a covenant is involved\, the death of the one who made it must be established. For a covenant takes effect only at death\, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. Hence even the first covenant was not ratified without blood. For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people\, he took the blood of calves and goats\, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop\, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people\, saying\, “This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship. Indeed\, under the law almost everything is purified with blood\, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites\, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.\nGospel Reading: Mark 11:11-23\nAt that time\, Jesus entered Jerusalem\, and went into the temple; and when he had looked round at everything\, as it was already late\, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.\nOn the following day\, when they came from Bethany\, he was hungry. And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf\, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it\, he found nothing but leaves\, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it\, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.\nAnd they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple\, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons; and he would not allow any one to carry anything through the temple. And he taught\, and said to them\, “Is it not written\, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and sought a way to destroy him; for they feared him\, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching. And when evening came they went out of the city.\nAs they passed by in the morning\, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. And Peter remembered and said to him\, “Rabbi\, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered.” And Jesus answered them\, “Have faith in God. Truly\, I say to you\, whoever says to this mountain\, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea\,’ and does not doubt in his heart\, but believes that what he says will come to pass\, it will be done for him.”

SUMMARY:Apodosis of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 12/31/2025\nSaints and Feasts: Apodosis of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior\, Jesus Christ; Melania the Younger\, Nun of Rome; The Martyr and Presbyter Zoticus of Rome\, Patron of Orphans\nFast Free\nEpistle Reading: St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 10:1-18\nBrethren\, since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities\, it can never\, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year\, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise\, would they not have ceased to be offered? If the worshipers had once been cleansed\, they would no longer have any consciousness of sin. But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin year after year. For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. Consequently\, when he came into the world\, he said\, “Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired\, but a body hast thou prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure. Then I said\, ‘Lo\, I have come to do thy will\, O God\,’ as it is written of me in the roll of the book.” When he said above\, “Thou hast neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law)\, then he added\, “Lo\, I have come to do thy will.” He abolishes the first in order to establish the second. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands daily at his service\, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices\, which can never take away sins. But when this one had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins\, he sat down at the right hand of God\, then to wait until his enemies should be made a stool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying\, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days\, says the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts\, and write them on their minds\,” then he adds\, “I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more.” Where there is forgiveness of these\, there is no longer any offering for sin.\nGospel Reading: Mark 11:22-26\nThe Lord said\, “Have faith in God. Truly\, I say to you\, whoever says to this mountain\, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea\,’ and does not doubt in his heart\, but believes that what he says will come to pass\, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you\, whatever you ask in prayer\, believe that you are receiving it\, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying\, forgive\, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive\, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
